Arshad Nadeem, who recently made headlines by winning the gold medal in the Men’s Javelin Throw final at the Paris Olympics 2024, joined Lesco in 2011 as an assistant linesman in Grade 7. Over the years, his outstanding performance both in his sport and his professional role at Lesco has seen him rise to Grade 18, the highest grade traditionally available to sportsmen within the company.

Currently serving as a line foreman at the Bhati Gate sub-division in Lahore, Nadeem’s potential promotion to Grade 19 would mark a historic moment for Lesco. The company’s board of directors is set to meet on Monday to consider this proposal. If approved, Nadeem’s new role could see him assume the position of assistant manager.

Lesco Chief Executive Engineer Shahid Haider confirmed that while the company’s rules typically cap promotions for sportsmen at Grade 18, the board has the authority to extend this limit. The recommendation for Nadeem’s promotion will be made according to company rules, with the final decision resting with the board of directors.

This move reflects Lesco’s recognition of Nadeem’s contributions, both as a national sports hero and a dedicated employee, highlighting the company’s commitment to supporting the careers of its sportsmen.
